THE PROBLEM: Keeping kitchen and bath towels smelling fresh

Kitchen and bath towels are notorious for starting to smell bad even after a short period of normal use. With kitchen towels, the source of the odor is contamination from bacteria on food particles, while bath towels develop odor as a result of the bacteria that thrive on damp fabric. Until now there was no easy way to deal with odor problems. Laundering towels in chlorine bleach can help for a little while, but doing so won’t give any lasting protection to the towels because the chlorine soon evaporates and the contamination and malodor start all over again.

OUR SOLUTION: The HaloShield® coating

HaloShield was developed by HaloSource® to keep towels odor-free, permanently. By placing a layer of binding sites on the towel’s surface, HaloShield enables chlorine bleach to stick to the textile. Chlorine’s antimicrobial properties reduce the bacteria that cause unpleasant odors, leaving towels smelling fresh for days. Simply washing the towel with bleach immediately recharges its anti-odor effectiveness. HaloShield has a 99.9 percent success rate in controlling odor-causing bacteria and the fastest bacteria-reduction rate among all similar products on the market today.

HaloSource has partnered with Clorox® to create HaloShield powered Fresh Care® towels, available at more than 20,000 retail outlets nationwide, including all Walmart®, Kmart® and Target® stores. Following the success of Fresh Care kitchen cloths and towels, we developed a line of bath towels that protect the towel against odors caused by dampness and microbes in the bathroom. These towels were introduced nationally through Bed Bath & Beyond in summer 2010.
